Having served extensively as a senior professor in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME) and Nanomaterials and Ceramic Engineering (NCE) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), he has contributed substantially to national engineering education, institutional leadership, and materials research in Bangladesh.

He holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium, and previously served as the Dean of the Innovative Industry and Sustainability Research Cluster at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. His expertise spans advanced materials, electronic packaging materials, and institutional research management.

A former long-standing faculty member at BUET, he served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) and continues to advance production engineering, manufacturing processes, and materials science.

A professional engineer with extensive research experience in manufacturing technologies, foundry development, and industrial equipment design, he leads government-backed R&D initiatives, technology transfer, and industrial skill development projects across Bangladesh.

He is the Director of the Centre for Management Development, former President of the Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management (BSTQM), and former President of the AOTS Alumni Society. A renowned keynote speaker and trainer on ISO standardizations, Total Quality Management (TQM), and operational excellence, he has spent over three decades advancing quality management systems across major industries.

He completed his PhD in Metallurgy at the University of Birmingham, UK. With extensive experience in teaching, industrial failure analysis, and foundry engineering, Dr. Rashid has authored over 35 research publications and guided national industrial consulting projects.

A BUET EEE graduate with a PhD from University College London, he was awarded the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Gold Medal (2005) for his work in solar energy and microgrid systems. He is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and international authority on renewable energy integration.
